THe geography of niagara falls
The Niagara falls is located between the province of Ontario in Canada and the state of New York in the United States. These produce the southern end of the Niagara Gorge. Niagara falls were made when the glaciers decreased edge of the Wisconsin glaciation and water made the Great Lakes and made a path to the Niagara Escarpment which leads to the Atlantic ocean. The Niagara falls are very wide. It is more than 6 mllion cubic feet of water falls every minute in high flow and on average almost four million cubic feet. The best weather at Niagara falls is from mid May until mid September. The peak season is during July and August. If you would like to avoid the crowds and enjoy, it is good to go during the 2 weeks of September.
The Niagara Falls were formed thousands of years ago by glaciers. The massive ice sheet then moved away and water from the Great Lakes filled Lake Erie.

Interesting facts
The Niagara gorge was made when the Niagara River eroded the rock. This means that the rock has been pushed back almost 10.9km! The erosion takes a long time, because the river has to erode through the harder rock before it reaches the soft rock.
The Niagara river also erodes below the surface, making the pool at the bottom of the falls (plunge pool) almost 50 meters deep!
